Andrew Clarke Exhibition

Watercolour & Collage Seascapes & Landscapes by Andrew Clarke @ The Harwich Arts & Heritage Centre, Foyer Space. 14th January until 15th February 2025. Free Entry.

I was born in Ipswich and from a very early age just wanted ‘to do art’.

I studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Colchester School of Art and Norwich School of Art culminating in a B.A. (Hons) in 1984.

After running my own Graphic Design business for 25 years, in 2017 I returned to watercolours, a medium that I have always loved, not the easiest of mediums to tame which is really part of its charm, and the unpredictability of how it will ebb and flow!

I have recently, inspired by sea and shore, discovered the joy of creating more semi-abstract contemporary work with watercolour collage which has a great freedom to it, this is more like watercolour marquetry, cutting and fitting together pieces of painted and textured watercolour papers to create an image.

I also paint seascapes and landscapes using watercolours in a more realistic and traditional style.

I love painting the coastline, creeks, estuaries and landscapes of Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. A constant source of inspiration, delight and fascination!

I live and work from my home in Washbrook village near Ipswich, Suffolk.

I have exhibited my work widely throughout East Anglia at;
