Grow for the Jubilee!
The Harwich Festival has been commissioned by Harwich Town Council to organise a day of
celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Sunday 5th June. It will be part of the national ‘ Big
Jubilee Lunch ‘ which is all about bringing people together for community, friendship and fun.
Activities on the day will take place in Cliff Park and the Park Pavilion.
One of the main attractions will be a Flower Show for which a large marquee will be erected in the
park. We’re hoping to fill this with flower displays in various categories. There will also be exhibitions
of flower inspired art by local camera and art clubs.
We are now inviting people to get involved to help organise the show and to get the community
growing flowers and plants. Perhaps you could come up with a competition
category or display of produce you could organise. This could be traditional categories like a
flowering plant, a container of herbs or 5 different vegetables but of course you could also come up
with a more quirky category like the funniest shaped vegetable.
We’re hoping you will all like to get involved and show off your horticultural skills.
Please contact Monique de Vlieger if you would like to discuss any ideas you’ve got for our Flower
Show.
