The Harwich Festival has been commissioned by Harwich Town Council to organise a day of celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Sunday 5th June. Activities on the day will take place in Cliff Park and the Park Pavilion.
One of the main attractions will be an exhibition of photographs taken locally over the last 70 years. The Harwich Festival is working with representatives of the Harwich Society, the Harwich Museum and the Electric Palace to display photos, articles and Film covering the Coronation and various Royal visits to the town. The exhibition will take place in the Park Pavilion.
However, what we really want are your photographs of everyday life in the Town over the last 70 years. Harwich Festival would like to receive your photos either as a gift or on loan, which be handled in a professional curatorial manner. These will then be displayed under various themes alongside the other exhibits.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day and it will be an ideal opportunity to mark how the town and the local community has changed and to reminisce.
